Faculty of Pharmacy — Tanta University Welcomes the Evaluation Committee for the Best Environmentally Friendly Faculty Competition

   The Faculty of Pharmacy — Tanta University welcomed, on the morning of Sunday, 1 February 2026, the evaluation committee for the Best Environmentally Friendly Faculty Competition, in the context of the university’s commitment to enhancing the environmental sustainability concepts and transition to green universities.

   The visit was attended by Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Emad Etman, Former Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Chair of the Evaluation Committee; along with the committee members.

   The Evaluation Committee comprised Prof. Mona El-Gamal, Professor at the Faculty of Science; Prof. Nada El-Shennawy, Director of the Electronic Portal Unit; Dr. Mohamed El-Sharkasy, Director of the Environmental Affairs Department at Gharbia Governorate; and Dr. Medihat Darwish, representative of the Environmental Affairs Agency.

   The committee was received by Prof. Mona Abdel Hamid Al-Aassar, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, who welcomed the distinguished guests and accompanied them to the meeting hall at the Dean’s Office, where a presentation was delivered highlighting the key environmental preparations and sustainability standards implemented within the faculty. The meeting was attended by Prof. Naglaa Abdel Aziz El-Shetany, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Eman Goda Khedr, Acting Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research; a number of heads of academic departments; as well as the members of the team responsible for preparing and presenting the competition file.

    Following the meeting, the Evaluation Committee conducted an inspection tour of several facilities supporting sustainable development and environmental conservation within the faculty, including the Central Research Laboratory, the Simulation Laboratory, the Pharmaceutical Services Center, in addition to the faculty’s Medicinal Plants Farm at the Sibirbay Campus.

   Prof. Mahmoud Selim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, affirmed that the Faculty of Pharmacy’s participation in the Best Environmentally Friendly Faculty Competition reflects Tanta University’s orientation toward adopting environmental sustainability concepts and supporting the transition to green universities, through encouraging environmental initiatives, rationalizing energy consumption, and enhancing environmental awareness within the university community.

   For his part, Prof. Emad Etman, Former University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Chair of the Evaluation Committee, stated that the environmental projects and practices observed at the Faculty of Pharmacy reflect the integration of efforts between education, scientific research, and community service in support of environmental sustainability issues.

   Prof. Mona Abdel Hamid Al-Aassar, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, also emphasized the faculty’s commitment to supporting environmentally friendly projects and implementing sustainability concepts within the university campus, contributing to the realization of the university’s vision toward a sustainable green university.

   At the conclusion of the visit, Prof. Mona Abdel Hamid Al-Aassar expressed her sincere thanks and appreciation to the members of the team responsible for preparing and presenting the competition file, namely: Asst. Prof. Maisara Mohamed El-Bouseiry, Assistant Professor at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology — Acting Manager of the Quality Assurance Unit and Team Leader; Asst. Prof. Engy Abdel Samee El-Ekhnawy, Assistant Professor at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and International Ranking Coordinator at the faculty; Dr. Soliman Saleh El-Toukhy, Lecturer at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Manager of the Excellence Unit at the faculty; Mr. Anwar Amin El-Hamaky, Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Ms. Noha Hossam Ahmed, Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Biochemistry; and Dr. Mai Mohy Abdel Sattar, Manager of the Dean’s Office — wishing the Faculty of Pharmacy continued success and further excellence.
