As part of Tanta Faculty of Pharmacy’s commitment to promoting awareness of crisis management and enhancing safety measures and preparedness for dealing with various emergency situations, and under the patronage of Prof. Mona Abdel Hamid Al-Aassar, Dean of Tanta Faculty of Pharmacy, and Prof. Sherin Farouk Hammad, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, the faculty’s Training Unit organized an awareness seminar entitled “Effective Crisis Management: The Individual’s Role and the Institution’s Responsibilities” on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

   The seminar was organized by the faculty’s Training Unit, headed by Asst. Prof. Walaa Negm, Assistant Professor of Pharmacognosy and Director of the Unit, in cooperation with Prof. Ali Mostafa El-Megharbel, Director of the Crisis Management and Decision-Making Unit at Tanta University, and in coordination with Asst. Prof. Aya El-Qadim, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology and Director of the faculty’s Occupational Safety and Health, and Crisis and Disaster Management Unit.

   The seminar was delivered by Prof. Ali Mostafa El-Megharbel, who discussed the concepts of crises and disasters, explaining the differences between them and the mechanisms for managing a crisis to prevent its escalation into a disaster. The seminar also presented many real-life cases and examples of crises and disasters that have occurred in Egypt and the Arab region, with the aim of enhancing practical understanding of crisis management methods, as well as clarifying the roles of individuals and the responsibilities of institutions during crises and disasters.

   The seminar also addressed the importance of advance preparedness for crises through developing potential scenarios and conducting regular training on them. This contributes to enhancing readiness and ensuring a rapid response, while strengthening the ability of the institution and its members to take appropriate measures, deal with crises, and mitigate their impacts.

   The seminar is part of Tanta Faculty of Pharmacy’s efforts to enhance institutional awareness of safety and crisis management concepts and promote a culture of preparedness and prevention, thereby contributing to providing a safe working environment capable of effectively dealing with various emergency situations.
