The Faculty of Pharmacy welcomed children of the Child University Program as part of the joint cooperation between Tanta University and the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), and under the auspices of Prof. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Prof. Mamdouh Moawad, Acting President of ASRT; Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President; and Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs; and under the supervision of Prof. Mona Abdel Hamid El-Aassar, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Prof. Sherin Hammad Farouk, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs; and coordinated by Prof. Samir Qamh, Child University Program Coordinator at Tanta University, and Asst. Prof. Walaa Negm, Child University Program Coordinator at the Faculty of Pharmacy, in the presence of Prof. Eman Goda Khedr, Acting Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies and Research.
As part of the efforts to promote social responsibility and disseminate scientific culture among young people, Tanta University’s Faculty of Pharmacy welcomed children participating in the eighth phase of the Child University Program – Level (E1) for a distinguished interactive scientific visit on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
The program included a series of educational activities within the faculty’s departments, aiming to simplify pharmaceutical sciences and connect them with real-life applications. The tour began at the Department of Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry, where the children learned about the nature of different chemical substances and how to determine the basic and acidic properties of materials and relate them to practical, real-life applications. They also learned about the pH of the skin and blood and its importance, in addition to observing a number of simplified chemical reactions.
The tour concluded with a visit to the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, where the academic team provided a simplified explanation of cosmetics, such as creams, covering their basic ingredients, the method of preparing them in the laboratory, and their key physical and chemical properties. This created an atmosphere of scientific interaction and enjoyment among the children. At the end of the day, each child took a sample.
