As part of the Faculty of Pharmacy’s commitment to supporting student activities and fostering students’ professional awareness, a delegation of students from the faculty’s Scientific Association participated in the Africa Health ExCon 2026 Conference and Exhibition, held on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Recognized as the largest healthcare gathering in the African continent, the event brought together healthcare leaders, policymakers, experts, and specialists from around the world.
The student delegation included Menna Khaled Eissa, Sara Sami El-Sanbok, and Rahma Mohamed El-Feqi, all fourth-level students enrolled in the Bachelor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Program. Their participation provided them with an opportunity to explore the latest innovations and technologies in healthcare, pharmaceutical industries, and medical technology, as well as to gain insights into emerging global trends that help to develop healthcare systems.
The students also attended a number of specialized scientific and panel sessions addressing a variety of strategic themes, most notably digital transformation and artificial intelligence in healthcare, strengthening health sovereignty and pharmaceutical security across Africa, localizing pharmaceutical and medical industries, ensuring the sustainability of medical supply chains, and opportunities for investment and innovation in the healthcare sector, in addition to mechanisms for building regional and international partnerships that support the advancement of healthcare services.
The conference featured a series of distinguished sessions focusing on the future of the pharmacy profession and the role of young professionals in advancing the healthcare sector. Among them were “Health Systems Reimagined: Pharmacists as the Core of Universal Health Coverage,” which highlighted the pivotal role of pharmacists in achieving universal health coverage; “NextGen Pharmacy: AI, Mobility & the Rise of Borderless Careers,” which examined the impact of artificial intelligence on the future of the profession and global career opportunities for young pharmacists; “AI & Digital Transformation in Healthcare: How Young Professionals Can Lead the Future,” which explored the role of youth in leading digital transformation in healthcare sector; and “The Human Side of Healthcare: Influence, Communication & Patient Trust,” which emphasized the significance of communication skills and building patient trust as fundamental pillars of modern healthcare practice.
This participation took place within the framework of the Faculty of Pharmacy – Tanta University’s strategy to prepare its students academically and professionally and to strengthen their engagement with the rapid developments occurring in healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. Such efforts contribute to preparing highly qualified pharmacists capable of competing effectively and contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the improvement of healthcare services at both the local and regional levels.
