As part of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tanta University’s commitment to supporting purposeful student activities and fostering the scientific and professional skills of its students, the Faculty’s Student Welfare Administration organized the sixth edition of the student activity “PHocus,” held by the scientific association “EPSF-Tanta.” The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Mona Abdel Hamid Al-Aassar, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Prof. Naglaa Abdel Aziz El-Shetany, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Sally El-Sayed Abu Resha, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology and Advisor of the Scientific Association.
The activity took place over three consecutive days from April 27 to 29, 2026, in the form of a comprehensive scientific conference simulation model, reflecting the Scientific Association’s dedication to providing an advanced educational and training experience for the faculty’s students.
The event addressed two main themes: “Clinical Pharmacy Career” and “Dermatological Diseases”. The first day’s activities were held at the faculty premises, while the following two days were conducted online, allowing broader student participation and providing a flexible and integrated educational experience.
The activity featured a distinguished series of specialized scientific lectures, including a lecture entitled “Safe Use of Medications and the Misuse of Corticosteroids,” delivered by Dr. Eman El-Berry, Lecturer at the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy, Tanta University; a lecture entitled “Tinea and Eczema,” delivered by Ms. Hadeer El-Sheikh, Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy, Tanta University; as well as a lecture entitled “Supportive Applications in Clinical Pharmacy and the Integration of Artificial Intelligence,” presented by Mr. Mohamed Ehab, Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy, Tanta University.
The activities also included a lecture entitled “Skin Layers, Structure, and Warning Signs in Dermatological Diseases,” delivered by Dr. Fatma El-Hosseiny, Senior Clinical Pharmacist at the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, Tanta University Hospitals; a lecture entitled “Roles Within the Hospital Pharmacy,” delivered by Pharmacist Aya Abou Mosalam, Clinical Pharmacist at Om El-Atibaa Hospital; in addition to a lecture entitled “Introduction to Clinical Pharmacy and the Essential Skills of the Ideal Clinical Pharmacist,” delivered by Pharmacist Amira Turki, Clinical Pharmacist at the Intensive Care Unit, Tanta University Hospitals.
Furthermore, the program featured a lecture entitled “Patient Counseling,” delivered by Pharmacist Ahmed Ezzat, Head of the Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Department at Tanta University, in addition to a panel discussion entitled “A Day in the Life of a Clinical Pharmacist,” with the participation of Pharmacist Mohamed Younes, Clinical Pharmacist, and student Mohamed Eissa, Pharmaceutical Education Officer at EPSF Tanta PE Ch.P 2025–2026. The session aimed to transfer practical expertise and familiarize students with the nature and requirements of clinical pharmacy practice.
The event also included a distinguished scientific competition in the field of dermatological diseases, during which several clinical cases were presented to participants for analysis and discussion before an evaluation panel. The practical experience aimed to enhance students’ clinical thinking, presentation, and communication skills.
“PHocus” is regarded as one of the prominent annual activities organized by “EPSF-Tanta.” The event seeks to enrich students’ scientific and professional competencies and refine their practical skills, thereby contributing to the preparation of qualified pharmaceutical professionals capable of keeping pace with modern developments in healthcare and clinical pharmacy, while enhancing their readiness for professional life and the labor market.
